First Catch up
March 29th
Welcome to the course! I’m excited to have you here. In this introductory session, I’ll briefly explain what you’ll see on the website and guide you on how to start working with it. We’ll cover how to navigate through the resources, access course materials, and make the most of your learning experience. Let’s get started!
Second Catch up
April 12
In this catch-up session, we discussed the next set of lessons and homework (starting around minute 9:30) and answered questions about the work completed so far. Our next meeting will take place in two weeks—see you then!
Third Catch up
Today we discussed some aspects of the finishing process (starting at minute 5) and briefly reviewed the upcoming lessons, where we begin working on the lower limb.
Quick note:
Feel free to continue working all the way down to the foot, as we still have two more weeks before the next submission deadline.
4th catch up
May 10th
In this meeting, we begin by discussing techniques to smooth the surface of your sculpture, including tips on how to build your own sculpting tools and achieve a superfine finish.
Another important part of the session (around minute 7:45) focuses on learning how to enjoy the process — with practical advice for making the learning journey more effective and fun.
5th catch up
May 17th
Here I talk about design concepts like balance, contrast, movement, and more. It’s definitely worth having a look, as it opens up your mind — not just to sculpt something, but to think about what you can do to make it look better from the idea to the execution.
6th catch up
May 24th
Today we talked about finishing the sculpture, with a focus on the differences in approach depending on whether you’re preparing your work for the film industry or for the fine art world — such as galleries or the art market.
I also touched briefly on mold-making, as requested by one of the students.
Hope you’re all enjoying the process as we move toward the end of the course. I’m really looking forward to seeing how your work is progressing!
7th catch up
June 7th
In this meeting, I start by revisiting where you can purchase the right tools (around minute 2:20). Then, at minute 5, I go over the books I recommend and offer advice on which ones are most suitable for your current level. Finally, at minute 16, I share some of my personal influences and thoughts on how I approach creative work—insights that may help you develop your own artistic voice.
